THE HOST COUNTRY
The Host Country’s genre experimentation puts them in a category of their own. Their music is a fusion of folk, rock, and blues; a mix of raw and vulnerable, all combined with hauntingly passionate chord shifts. Dual writing credits between Ty Wistrand & Diana Weishaar put forth versatile songs that are evocative, intimate, and full of soul. Tom Rue (bass) and Ethan Weishaar (drums) carry the bottom end, and they recently brought in Michael Lovan on guitar to complete the 5-piece. The group's musical storytelling and engaging live performances are not to be missed.
Courtney Krause's thought-provoking style of writing not only encompasses the longing heart of a singer/songwriter, but it also speaks to the varieties of circumstance faced in relationships, communication, and honesty. Modernizing classic country, folk, sultry soul, rock and rhythm, the songs create a dialogue where both sides of the story are told. The latest record (digitally available Spring 2018), "Tie Your Tongue/Bite Your lip," is a 10 track album focused around the importance of difficult conversations after allowing thoughts to manifest themselves in the most authentic of moments of communication and vulnerable expression. https://www.courtneykrausemusic.com/
We have all been that guy or gal driving home alone at night when a song comes on, maybe we know it, maybe we don't, but in those 3:30-4:00 minutes, we feel safe. Safe in our pain, safe in our hope, safe in our understanding that things won't always be like this bad/good thus causing us to cherish that moment, and if we can't...we simply start the song over. Sometimes over and over again. Chad Lehr just want to be the song you want to play over and over again.
THE MISSING LETTERS + JAKE KEMBLE
Doors 10PM | Show 10:30PM | $5/advance, $8/door
THE MISSING LETTERS - In October 2012, drummer Shannon Drymalski and Matt Whitaker met through friends and quickly began working on a project called "The Missing Letters". They later met Bryan Peterson and Josh Ripley and the project was complete!! A rock band with everything from loud hard hitting rock songs to beautiful melodic songs.
JAKE KEMBLE - (Twin Cities Music) "Shutting down the Parkway with the final set of the evening was Jake Kemble’s newest project – Boomtown Riot. Twin Cities music fans may recognize Kemble from Kick, but he seems to have hit a new groove with Boomtown Riot. Their set was through the roof energy, ear-wormy tracks that are made to be sung a long to, and like XIII Arrows at bit of a larger than life feeling.
Doors 9pm | Show 9:30pm | $5/advance, $7/door
KARATE CHOP, SILENCE - Picture your favorite karate movie. Now imagine that the actors used instruments instead of their fists. Now imagine that instead of studying martial arts, they studied jazz and were taught by modern radio instead of a Sensei -- and also knew nothing about karate. Karate Chop, Silence is sorta like that.
MEADOWLARK VALLEY is the music of Multi-instrumentalist JJ Schrick with influences stemming from Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and Andrew Bird.

UNDER COVER SUNDAY PRESENTS: SYVERS + IN THE ATTIC + CRYSTAL CITY (duo)
Doors 6PM | Show 6:30 PM | No cover/free show
SYVERS are an indie folk-electronic duo hailing from Minneapolis. The husband-wife fronted band brings together a raw and honest vulnerability focused on the process. This common tie is the thread that led them to write their debut release, the Au Fond Sessions.
IN THE ATTIC is an alternative band from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with five core members; Grant Blades, Tyler Burkle, Brennan Graeve, Piper McGee, and Tanner Parks. Tyler and Tanner have known each other for over a decade. They met Grant in high school where they formed In the Attic and started White Sofa Records. They have released two singles from their first record, The Same Different Sound, called “Brother” and “People.”
CRYSTAL CITY is fronted by Dave Helmer and Sam Drella. Helmer is a Midwestern singer/songwriter from central Iowa with blue-collar roots. Heavily influenced by Paul Westerberg, Tom Petty, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, Helmer’s songs are approachable and relatable, touching on themes of love and loss, being good to each other and celebrating life.
Doors 10pm | Show 10:30pm | $8/advance, $10/door
ANCIENT POSSE - Accepting fate can feel so inadequate sometimes. In the case of Des Moines based synth duo Ancient Posse, such soul searching was exactly the primal spark needed to set two disparate souls rolling toward each other from opposite ends of the universe. In 2014, Kamillah Jonaé (lead vocals) had lived all the Texas life she could muster, and following a harrowing chain of events, found herself right back where her life began: Des Moines, Iowa. At the same time, Steven Bergeron (keys, production, vocals) was finally emerging from a deep isolation brought on by anxiety and illness. The two found each other haunting the same dark bars and lonely skywalks.
CALEB CONDIT is an electronic musician influenced equally by Chicago house, juke, dub, and deep soul cuts. The current live show is an attempt to take the years of studio sessions and bring out an improvised and live feel that’s equal parts headphone bliss and dance party.
