DICKIE veteran tunesmith Dick Prall, has created a collection of dark, gorgeous, and oft-times moony sing-alongs on his fifth full-length release. Now brandishing the childhood moniker his recently-passed mother had given him, the self-titled record comes in like a bellowing newborn, but settles into a pace of dynamic ebb and flow as it ages and ends with a Roy Orbison-styled recount of hopeful love that never bleeds into the saccharine.
STARSHIP PILGRIMS take you on a journey back in time, stopping along the way at the Winterland Ballroom at The Band’s last show in 1976, Pompeii with Pink Floyd in 1972, and Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock in 1969, along with many other of rock and rolls famous landmarks through the years. Their music will make you reminisce on the glory days, as well as excite you for new things to come. Whether you crave a soaring shred of a solo, breathe solely for the groove and the funk, or just need a good jam band to lighten your days, the Pilgrims have your fix 24/7. Songs like “Settle In” will make you swoon, as well as headbang all the way to doomsday, and “Daytrip” will take you on a drive with the top down along the shore of southern California. As the Jam scene’s newest addition to the family, they pay homage to their sonic father figures like the almighty Grateful Dead and the always lovable Phish. Their debut album is available May 5, 2018. Don't sleep! The Starship has landed.
BENJAMIN CARTEL is one sly songwriter. The tunes on his new disc Gothenburg can often conjure the same subliminal tension as that of a Randy Newman or John Prine. While the melody draws you in with its tunefulness and catchy hook, the lyrics, often dark and disturbing, have something else on their dirty little minds.

TREESREACH + SLEEPING JESUS
Doors 9PM | Show 9:30PM | $8/advance, $10/door
TREESREACH blends elements of rock, folk, jazz, classical, and chamber pop to offer a melodic, textural, and dynamic musical journey to its listeners, both on stage and in the studio. The band independently released its debut album Some Night You Will Hear Me Crowing in January of 2018. Songs contained on the album have received diverse stylistic comparisons, from Fleet Foxes to Pink Floyd, from Dawes to Radiohead, from Simon and Garfunkel to Built to Spill. And treesreach brings that dynamic array of music to the stage with a show that has been described as “serene, smooth, and even explosive at times.”
SLEEPING JESUS' ailed move to New York and new love was just the existential dilemma Minnesota's Nick Elstad needed to give life to his indie dream pop project, Sleeping Jesus. 2016 saw the release of the Perennial EP, a hazy and sweet four song journey of young love and the beautiful foolishness that accompanies it. The now five piece group went from basement to the main stage at First Avenue in one short year, picked as one of the best new bands of Minneapolis in 2016.
THE HOST COUNTRY
The Host Country’s genre experimentation puts them in a category of their own. Their music is a fusion of folk, rock, and blues; a mix of raw and vulnerable, all combined with hauntingly passionate chord shifts. Dual writing credits between Ty Wistrand & Diana Weishaar put forth versatile songs that are evocative, intimate, and full of soul. Tom Rue (bass) and Ethan Weishaar (drums) carry the bottom end, and they recently brought in Michael Lovan on guitar to complete the 5-piece. The group's musical storytelling and engaging live performances are not to be missed.
We have all been that guy or gal driving home alone at night when a song comes on, maybe we know it, maybe we don't, but in those 3:30-4:00 minutes, we feel safe. Safe in our pain, safe in our hope, safe in our understanding that things won't always be like this bad/good thus causing us to cherish that moment, and if we can't...we simply start the song over. Sometimes over and over again. Chad Lehr just want to be the song you want to play over and over again.
