DICKIEVERSARY SHOW! DICKIE featuring DOSH
This date marks the night that Dick Prall and Kristina Priceman first met three years ago on Thanksgiving Eve! Over much musical talk – and whiskey -- the seeds were sown for what would quickly become the indie pop duo DICKIE and the rest is history. (Or hersory, depending on whom you ask.) DICKIE will be performing their debut album in its entirety, as well as many songs from Prall’s extensive catalog, as well as a few surprises.
The night also features Minneapolis multi-instrumentalist Martin Dosh, better known as DOSH. Dosh’s work with Andrew Bird in Lateduster and Fog gave him an experience that helped him begin to perform solo. In 2002, Dosh released his first album simply titled Dosh, recording most of the record by himself in his basement. The album developed a following in the local Twin Cities scene with City Pages voting him second on their annual “Picked to Click” list. The record was reviewed in Village Voice, URB, Flaunt, XLR8R, The Big Takeover and a number of online magazines. Dosh has toured extensively with Andrew Bird and contributed significantly to Andrew Bird’s albums, Armchair Apocrypha and Noble Beast.
“Call him a one-man band, a virtuoso, a gifted collaborator or a family man, Martin, Marty, Dosh or Dad, Minneapolis avant-rock luminary Martin Dosh is lauded by fellow musicians for his astounding solo, multi-instrumental abilities, mashing together elements of jazz, electro, hip-hop, minimalism, and ambient. A key collaborator with the likes of Andrew Bird, Redstart, Fog, Lateduster, and many others, Dosh has also shared the stage with Wilco, WHY?, Damo Suzuki, Gary Wilson, Golden Smog, Sole, My Morning Jacket, Tapes 'n Tapes, cLOUDDEAD, Sage Francis, Devendra Banhart, Kid Dakota, Alias, Themselves, Peanut Butter Wolf, P.O.S., Happy Apple, Joseph Arthur, Pizza Boys, the Bad Plus, The Jayhawks, Atmosphere, DJ Vadim and many more.”
